This event brings together industry, knowledge institutions and government to look at recent developments, opportunities and future perspectives in defence innovation. Participants can expect expert talks, interactive breakout sessions, networking and discussions on innovation projects.

The first DIF-Day will be held in Mechelen in coöperation with FTI.

The programme includes morning breakout sessions on strategic innovation themes in security and defence, including:

  • protection of maritime infrastructure
  • early warning using space expertise
  • resilient autonomous collaborative systems and counter-UxS
  • human survivability and resilience.

The afternoon includes keynote contributions, a session on VISD (Flemish Innovation and Industry Strategy for Security & Defence) achievements and next steps, and thematic choice sessions on future opportunities for Flemish companies in resilience-related defence files, lessons from Ukraine’s defence innovation approach, and cooperation in European value chains.

Registration is open until 16 October 2026.

BENEDMO - Flemish-Dutch collaboration against disinformation

Textgain is a Flemish SME and a partner in Digital Europe project BENEDMO, which answered to call ‘European Digital Media observatory (EDMO) - National and multinational hubs’.

Its task within the project is to further develop technologies to effectively detect sources of polarisation and disinformation, allowing journalists and moderators to quickly mitigate the harmful effects of such messages.
