Biodiversa+ has announced its 2026-2027 Joint Call, “Novel ecosystems: biodiversity, socio-ecological consequences and future trajectories”, under the short name BiodivFuture. The call aims to support transnational research and innovation projects that look at how ecosystems are changing under human influence and global change, including the related risks, opportunities and trade-offs.

The call covers three themes: novel ecosystem functioning; pathways to novel ecosystems under uncertainty and changing conditions; and biodiversity benefits, costs and trade-offs across contexts, communities and generations. The official call launch is planned for 9 September 2026, followed by this information webinar on 10 September 2026. A two-step application procedure is expected, with mandatory pre-proposals due in early November 2026 and full proposals in early April 2027.

At this stage, around €40 million has been provisionally reserved by 32 countries together with the European Commission.
