Advancing circularity of raw materials and access to them is one of the 6 drivers of the Clean Industrial Deal. Especially critical raw materials have sometimes been hard to come by in recent times due to the rapidly changing geo-political world. There is an urgent need to secure supply chains, diversify partnerships, and accelerate a sustainable economy. Action is needed now to drive industrial innovation and resilience.

The Raw Materials Community of the European institute of innovation and technology (EIT)will organize a conference in Brussels from the 13th to the 15th of May 2025 to discuss the next steps. This EIT community tries notably to build the bridge between innovative ideas and succesful businesses These are the main topics of the congress:

  • Funding innovation to drive breakthrough research and industrial adoption
  • Unlocking circular economies and Europe’s resource potential
  • Training the workforce needed for a net-zero industrial future
  • Building partnerships that drive meaningful progress and shared benefits

ROOT - Rolling Out OSNMA for the secure synchronization of Telecom networks

The ROOT project obtained funding under Horizon 2020 topic ‘EGNSS applications fostering societal resilience and protecting the environment’. The project, which ran from November 2020 to July 2022,  aimed to demonstrate the benefit of Galileo OSNMA signal to increase the robustness of critical telecom infrastructures.

The Flanders-based company Septentrio contributed substantially to completing this objective together with the other ROOT partners. The results of the project partially close a gap in the security of telecommunication networks dependent on satellite-derived time, with indirect benefits in curbing illegal attempts to disrupt network services.
