ProgrammesAs of the 2028 ERC calls, under the EU’s future Research and Innovation framework programme (2028-2034), a new thematic evaluation panel on Fundamentals of AI in the domain Physical Sciences and Engineering (PE12) will be established. The new panel will cover fundamental and basic research aimed at advancing the foundations, methods, and theories of artificial intelligence - rather than applications of AI in specific domains, which can be submitted to other panels. The new PE12 scope will include machine learning, reasoning, intelligent and autonomous systems, computer vision, natural language processing, generative and multimodal AI, and its mathematical and statistical foundations. The establishment of the new panel will bring the total to 29 evaluation panels (9 panels in Life Sciences; 8 in Social Sciences and Humanities and 12 in PE). More information on this news is available here and on the panels here.
