Warning eligibility Associated Countries in submission system on Funding & Tenders Portal

It has been reported that when involving stakeholders from recently associated countries (e.g. Switzerland and South Korea) in a proposal, a warning may appear in the Funding & Tenders Portal submission system though the eligibility conditions are met: “The call requires at least three participants from three different EU Member States or associated countries”. The European Commission confirmed that this warning is linked to the current technical configuration of the submission system and does not reflect the respective associated country status. You can always revise the Country eligibility tool on our website to revise the status of countries. If indeed the country is associated, then the warning can be ignored, provided that the final consortium complies with the minimum eligibility conditions at submission stage.

Updated EDF (European Defence Fund) Work Programme for 2026

The European Commission has revised the EDF Work Programme for 2026, aligning it with the Mini-Omnibus Regulation. Key changes involve simplified procedures and new investment areas aimed at supporting SMEs and research organisations. The updates to the EDF Work Programme 2026 halve the length of applications, reduce the number of award criteria, and streamline the proposal evaluation process. These amendments are designed to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and research organisations. The STEP initiative now includes a fourth investment area for defence technologies. Furthermore, high-quality EDF proposals will automatically receive STEP certification, granting access to additional funding opportunities. The Mini-Omnibus Regulation also paves the way for Ukraine to potentially become an associated country within the EDF after further negotiations. The calls for EDF 2026 have been published on the European Union's 'Tenders & Funding' portal at https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/portal/screen/home.

EURHISFIRM - Long-term data for Europe

EURHISFIRM designs a world-class research infrastructure (RI) to connect, collect, collate, align, and share detailed, reliable, and standardized long-term financial, governance, and geographical data on European companies. EURHISFIRM enables researchers, policymakers, and other stakeholders to develop and evaluate effective strategies to promote investment, economic growth and job creation. The RI provides the tools for long-term analysis highlighting the dynamics of the past and the way those dynamics structure our present and future.

The EURHISFIRM European project received € 3.4 million in financing from the European Commission through the H2020-INFRADEV-2017-1 research infrastructures call. The project started with a consortium of eleven research organisations (including University of Antwerp) from seven European countries.
