Getting ready for 2026 call opportunities: NCP support

New year, new opportunities. The Horizon Europe 2026-2027 work programme was published in December and new calls have recently opened or will open soon. Under the Digital Europe programme, several calls are currently open (deadline March 2026) and a new wave of calls is expected in spring.Are you exploring your options or already developing a proposal? New portal website for the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change

The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change has launched a new portal. The new website offers essential information and practical tools designed to facilitate Europe's transition to a climate-resilient future. Key sections include ongoing mission projects that highlight funded initiatives providing practical solutions for climate adaptation, and knowledge hubs that present tools and guidance for informed adaptation planning. Additionally, the portal features a news section to keep users updated on mission developments. There is also a tab reserved specifically for the community involved in the mission. Innovative Health Initative - Call 12 is open

The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) partnership has recently launched IHI Call 12. This single-stage call takes an applicant-driven approach. Proposals must align with the IHI Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and demonstrate a clear impact on society, the economy, and science. The call contains five topics, each focusing on one of the five IHI Specific Objectives (SOs) as set out in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA):  Topic 1 (SO1): Boosting innovation for a better understanding of the determinants of health Topic 2 (SO2): Boosting innovation through better integration of fragmented health R&I efforts Topic 3 (SO3): Boosting innovation for people-centred integrated healthcare solutions Topic 4 (SO4): Boosting innovation through exploitation of digitalisation and data exchange in healthcare Topic 5 (SO5): Boosting innovation for better assessment of the added value of innovative integrated healthcare solutions More information on IHI Call 12 is available on the dedicated IHI webpage. 28DIGITAL launches Venture Incubation and Spin Rise calls for 2026

28DIGITAL is inviting intermediary organisations  to help deliver its Venture Incubation Programme designed to support early stage ventures and its SPIN Rise Programme focusing on researchers who are embarking on a commercialisation trajectory. Hereby we provide you a short overview. Venture Incubation programme This project aims to support early-stage ventures through structured entrepreneurial education. This Incubation Programme is designed for entrepreneurial education providers, including incubators, accelerators, university entrepreneurship centres, and industry associations. Partners should possess the capacity to deliver a comprehensive 12-week programme in 2026. The deadline for proposal submission is set for 16 March 2026 at 17:00 CET. Interested parties can find more details here. SPIN RISE initiatives This programme will help researchers transform innovative ideas into viable market solutions. The call focuses on developing a hybrid programme that combines online training and in-person mentoring. Submissions must be able to organise a comprehensive 7-week programme during this calender year. The programme should address critical aspects of entrepreneurship and intellectual property (IP) valorisation and will explore avenues such as industry collaboration, licensing, and venture creation. All proposals must be submitted by the deadline of 17 March 2026 at 17:00 CET and you can find all relevant information regarding the call on this website.  Background: 28 Digital is the successor of EIT Digital. Its principle objective is to connect business, academia and research to cross the bridge between promising innovation and succesful commercialisation.

Financial support call for startups active in urban mobility

EIT Urban Mobility has opened a call for applications aimed at startups addressing urban mobility challenges. Eligible companies can apply for funding of up to €2.5 million.  The initiative seeks to enhance Europe’s innovation capacity in urban mobility by supporting pre-seed, seed, and Series A startups. Financial aid is intended to bolster the growth of innovative solutions targeting for example congestion, carbon emissions, urban logistics, share mobility and accessibility in urban areas. To be considered eligible for this Call, applicants must also meet all the following mandatory criteria: You are a startup currently engaged in an active fundraising round (pre-seed/seed or series A round). Your proposed innovations target the Urban Mobility market. You may not apply to three consecutive cut-offs. After submitting an application to two consecutive cut-offs, you must skip at least the following cut-off before applying again. You are not currently part of EIT Urban Mobility equity portfolio. Your company pre-money valuation does not exceed €50,000,000. Your startup has individual founders or executive team members who jointly hold more than 40% share of the company’s equity before the current fund raising. You have a prototype, pilot, or Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Funding is provided through an open application process with multiple cut offs throughout 2026:  1st cut-off date: 23 February 2026 2nd cut-off date: 18 May 2026 3rd cut-off date: 31 August 2026 4th cut-off date: 16 November 2026 Interested startups can find all the details regarding the application procedure on the website of the call.

Miricle - Mine Risk Clearance for Europe

The Miricle project, ‘Mine Risk Clearance for Europe’, obtained funding under the European Defence Industrial Development programme call ‘Underwater control contributing to resilience at sea’. The main objective of the project was to achieve a European and sovereign capacity in future mine warfare and create a path for the next generation ‘made in Europe’ countermeasure solutions. In order to realise this objective, Miricle addressed various stages: studies, design, prototyping and testing. These stages inter alia included the successful testing of an XL Unmanned Underwater Vehicle, a protototyped mine disposal system and multiple innovative systems to detect buried mines. Flanders Marine Institute (VLIZ), was one of the five Belgian partners in the consortium. Within the project, VLIZ was able to forward its research on the acoustic imaging of the seabed to spatially map and visualize buried structures and objects - in this case buried mines - in the highest possible detail. VLIZ also led the work on ‘Port and Offshore Testing’, building on the expertise of the institute in the field of marine operations and technology.
