Programmes Digital Europe AI, data & cloud Cybersecurity Advanced Digital Skills Deployment: Best use of technologies European Digital Innovation HubsThe European Commission has adopted and published three out of four work programmes for the Digital Europe programme on 10 November 2021.
The main work programme, worth €1.38 billion, will focus on investment in the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud and data spaces, quantum communication infrastructure, advanced digital skills, and the wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society, until the end of 2022. Alongside this main work programme, the Commission published two specific work programmes: one focusing on funding in the area of cybersecurity, with a budget of €269 million until the end of 2022, and one focusing on the set-up and operation of the network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), with a budget of €329 million, until the end of 2023. A fourth work programme, for high-performance computing, is expected shortly. The first calls for the Digital Europe Programme will be published by the end of November, and more calls will be published in 2022. The work programmes will be implemented mainly through grants and procurement. A few actions, such as the topics under the Destination Earth initiative will be implemented through indirect management, with partner organisations procuring for the necessary developments.

The Project SeafoodTomorrow is a project that is approved within the call BG-08-2017: Innovative sustainable solutions for improving the safety and dietary properties of seafood.
The three-year SeafoodTomorrow project brings together 34 partners. From Flanders, ILVO takes part in the project.They are responsible for setting up two databases which are the central point of the project to gather all the project data from analysis and assessement. ILVO is also leader of the workpackage dealing with authenticity, traceability and labelling. ILVO is also involved a the workpackage about novel food preparation. And in the managerial part, ILVO is head of the IPC- Intellectual Property Comité.
