The European Commission has published an Info Kit for Cities with comprehensive information about the Mission “100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030”. It can be found at https://ec.europa.eu/info/news/mission-climate-neutral-and-smart-cities-info-kit-cities-now-available-2021-oct-29_en
Part I of the Info Kit (“Understanding the Cities Mission”) is a practical guide to help cities prepare for the Call for Expression of Interest, which they plan to launch in the second half of November. Part II (“A short guide to urban climate neutrality”) offers resources and strategies towards climate neutrality at city level. Part II is intended as guidance throughout the implementation of the Mission, and cities are not expected to have addressed the various aspects highlighted in this part of the document at the stage of expressing their interest.
They have also published a Frequently Asked Questions document, which contains answers to the questions asked by participants during the webinar “The Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission” of 1 October. You can find it in the same place as the Info Kit. Please note that this is a living document and it will be updated to collect answers to the most recurrent questions.
If you are interested in the Call for Expression of Interest, you are invited to register already now at the following link: https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/CNC-Pre-Registration [you will need to use or create an EU Login account to access the registration form]. Registration is necessary in order to receive via email the link to access the questionnaire of the Call for Expression of Interest, once it is published. You can register at any time, before or after the Call is opened.
