The European Commission is organising the First EDIC Annual Gathering on 19-20 November 2025 in response to Member States’ interest to establish more structure framework for cooperation between relevant stakeholders working on European Digital Infrastructure Consortia (EDICs).

The event brings together representatives of existing and emerging EDICs, Member States, EU Institutions, industry and other key stakeholders on an invitation-only basis, however, the first day of the event will be livestreamed.

The session will feature presentations on the current state of EDIC initiatives, followed by a panel discussion featuring four keynote speakers, who will explore perspectives and priorities for the future development of the EDIC ecosystem.

More information and the link to the livestream can be found on the event website.

Background:

The Digital Decade Policy Programme introduced a new form to implement multi-country projects (MCPs): European Digital Infrastructure Consortia (EDICs) to speed up and simplify the setup and implementation of MCPs. An EDIC is a legal person established by a Commission decision upon the application of at least three Member States and Commission approval. Its budget will be based on its members’ contributions complemented by other sources of revenues, which may include EU and national grants. An EDIC may implement a multi-country project by deploying joint infrastructure, delivering services and bringing together – as considered appropriate by the founding Member States – public entities, private entities, end users and industry (more information in our info sheet).

Methylomic – Hope & Improved outcomes for Crohn’s disease patients across Europe

The METHYLOMIC project, ‘targeting hope for personalised medicine in immune-mediated inflammatory diseases’ obtained funding from Horizon Europe’s Health Cluster. The project aims to personalise treatment allocation and enhance the effectiveness of medications for chronic immune-mediated diseases such as Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and psoriasis. BIRD, the Belgian inflammatory bowel disease research and development group, is a partner in the project and is involved in the OmiCrohn trial, a prospective randomised clinical trial for individualised therapy in Crohn’s disease patients. With BIRD’s active role in this trial, the project is set to deliver predictive, biomarker-based therapies that bring renewed hope for Crohn’s disease patients across Europe.
