Competition for new award ‘Public Engagement with Research’ launched
At the European Research and Innovation Days the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas and ERC President Jean-Pierre Bourguignon launched the competition for the ERC award ‘Public Engagement with Research’. The award is designed for ERC grantees who have demonstrated excellence in public engagement and outreach and communicate their research to audiences outside their domain. Only ERC grantees of running projects or projects finished less than two years prior to the Award deadline are eligible to apply. The award has three categories: 1) public outreach, 2) press and media relations, and 3) online and social media and one winner will be selected in each category. The call is open from 24 September 2019 till the deadline for submission on 10 January 2020 17:00 CET. The winners will be announced at the award ceremony, which is planned to take place at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in Trieste, Italy from 5-9 July 2020. The prize for each winner includes a trophy, complimentary registration to ESOF, reimbursement for reasonable travel and hotel expenses for attending the award ceremony and visibility at the award ceremony. In addition, winning projects will be featured prominently on the ERC communication channels, expanding the visibility of the project beyond the national level, to EU audiences, for several months after the award.
